What is that smell??!

So I was going to try something kinda new. Using the iron skillet my mom left over here...i cooked some chicken in olive oil and when it was done i added some sauce and let it simmer until my pasta was cooked. I got a Pasta Boat (as seen on TV) for Christmas...and I have to say...it has made my big ol pot lonely. I cook alot in that thing. I had just used it the night before and made corn on the cob. I think my mind was still on cooking corn because...... I burned the flippn pasta!! How do you burn noodles? By not adding enough water that's how! Recommended cooking time (with the right amount of water and the amount of noodles) is 13 minutes. During that time i was in and out of the kitchen...stirring the chicken occasionally. I kept smelling a burnt hair like smell. Me thinking some sauce got on the burner i ignored it. 12 1/2 minutes later when i was back in the kitchen setting the table....the smell was worse. While I didn't think anyone in house could smell it Jill yells .

today...

Not much has been going on in the household here lately. The potty training is back in business and we are pleased to announce that he has gone potty twice in the toilet. Yesterday and today. Only # 1...but it's a start. I am loving work. I think I love my hours more than anything. I get off before 2 everyday. I don't feel like I am at work very long even though I get there at 6:15 am! Jill is doing good. Her and I are going to plan her 10th birthday today. Its not until the second Saturday in March....but I like to have things done ahead of time...and she can help plan. Josh was out with shingles last week. That was random. No one else caught them. And he returned to work today. All to have his foot run over...but he is fine. My uncle leaves this Saturday to go back to Africa. We will have a get together later in the week. He isn't sure how long he will be gone. My grandma is finally feeling better. She is moving around alot better and is back to her old self. I do need to

What happens when momma takes a nap?

Ive often wondered *what* really goes on when I lay down to sneak in a nap. And well...now I know..... He cant bear the thought of me being asleep. he gets closer and closer.... "laying" next to me....kinda :) Then he lays on me. I value nap time. I lay down when he lays down when Josh isn't here. But there are times when Josh is here I sleep a little longer. Now I know. Although Jaxon was being quiet and letting me sleep...he, in his own way, was letting me know he wanted me to wake up!

Flashback

It was a year ago this month we started brushing his teeth in the bath tub. With a little assistance from me he caught on real quick. He seemed to enjoy the fact that we were only brushing maybe 6 teeth. Or was it 8? I cant remember really. Now...all by himself (with little to no assistance from me) he brushes all of them. Top. Bottom. Tongue. They all get a visit from his toothbrush once (sometimes twice a day if they are lucky). Now! He has seen me potty and daddy potty....why cant he just take charge like he did with this? O wait....we are on a break from that! Happy Wednesday and Happy Brushing!!!

Im going to take a break!

This potty training business is for the birds! "He will go when he is ready" is all people keep telling me. My response ..."He does go when hes ready...in his diaper!!" Maybe if we just take a break and not rush it, it will all fall together. Like him sleeping without being bundled, going to nap or bed without a bottle, feeding himself his food with his own silverware. All the other milestones in between that he did when ..."he was ready" Going to the potty is a big deal for kids. This little adventure has been stressful on him. Not just me and Josh. I mean...hes constantly having to take off his pants and diaper, either sit on the little potty or put his seat on the big potty, sit down and get comfortable, make sure everything is aiming where it needs to be.....for nothing! He laughs the whole time he is on there. Except if the seat is really cold. That doesn't make him laugh at all. So for now we are on a break from going to the bathroom all at on

These are a few of my favorite things....

Josh: He is a great dad, a wonderful husband and a true friend to anyone that knows him. I am thankful for him. Jaxon: I could not have been more blessed than I am to have God give me this wonderful human being that I can call my son. He has brought so much joy to my life its unreal. I am thankful for him. These piggies. Are one of my favorite things to kiss, bathe, and cover up when they are cold. To that I am thankful for them. To be able to hear them run all over my house. Jennifer: With out her life would be boring. I wouldn't have my shoulder to cry on. Someone to lean on. Or someone to have a mid afternoon margarita with. I am thankful for her. Christmas morning: I love it. I miss you already. To capture the love of Santa in the eyes of a small child. To have the excitement just over whelm the house. I am thankful I was able to witness such joy. New Year: To new beginnings. To a fresh start. To ringing in the year with people that I love. Here's to a great year and fin

Do you know the Muffin Man?

I know the cutest muffin man. He crawled up in my lap to share a muffin with me. He would feed it to me. Then he would take a bite. It was a messy time. But a good time. So there were crumbs on the floor afterwards.....that's what brooms are for! Happy Tuesday!!!

To new beginings

We ended New Years Day with a movie, popcorn and drinks. Another goal of mine this year is to be in more pictures with my son. To have someone else behind the camera. I take alot of pictures of him. Of everyone else. And when I can sneak one in I have to take the one of me and Jaxon. I don't really have that many of me and him....and he's 2! So get ready.....there may be more of me this year!!!
