ITS A BOY!

My little sister, Jennifer is pregnant! We all found out in April and could not wait to find out the sex of the baby!

We started hitting up Pintrest pretty hard in the month of June! She wanted to have a gender reveal party and incorporate her favorite colors! Aqua, Dark Purple and Yellow were the colors of choice and we had to get busy! The party was July 26!

Another idea I have already found is painting the inside of mason jars. Pour enough paint in the bottom of jars and roll it around covering the sides and then on a piece of foil I turned them upside down to coat the whole jar evenly. This was a perfect and very cheap décor to add flowers in bright summer colors while also keeping her color theme in mind.

I already have a chalkboard square on my back door so that was used to hold the voting! We printed out boy silhouettes and girl silhouettes and had all the guest write their name across the front. It will be a cute page in her scrap book! That way one day her little boy will see how many people thought he should have been a girl! :) Or he will see how much fun we had in guessing!

Kept it simple on the food. Pinwheels and fruit salad!!

We had a local bakery do the cake. 1/2 sheet. We took a sealed envelope with her sono stating he was a boy and they did their magic. Using all her colors as well!

Some of the family/friends gathering in to see her cut the cake. That is the best thing about this kind of party, everyone shares in the anticipation and we all find out together! Way more personal than making a phone call! Or reading about it on Facebook!

Her step-son was in town to attend the party and they cut the cake together. (Secret: Her husband knew what they were having since the day of the sono 2 days before the party. I don't see how he kept it in for those loooong 2 days!)

Blue cake = BOY!! Everyone was happy. (even the folks that voted for a girl!)

Happy Happy Happy parents to be!

17 to 15! Close numbers in the voting!!

Jennifer and Tim:
The party was a great success and wouldn't have been possible without you guys expecting a great bundle of joy into this crazy world. My promise to you guys is that I am a phone call away. Newborns are great, but I know how exhausting that journey is. Call me if y'all need to sleep, have your dishes washed, laundry done or dinner cooked! My promise to my nephew is that I will be the best Aunt he will ever have. I will spoil him, love him, and let him know what great, wonderful, wild and crazy parents he has! He already holds a very special place in my heart!
Love you guys!! And again CONGRATS on what is the best journey this side of life!!

The torture. The madness

I try. I try to make food last. I try to stick to a grocery budget and sometimes ( more than I'd like) I fail. I'm slowly getting better at buying the important stuff in bulk. Our main meats. Beef. Chicken. Pork. I can stretch that out for months. The big things of Sunny D last about 3 weeks....etc you get the idea. The worst thing I could possibly do is go to Sams on a Saturday afternoon. WHY?? WHY do I do that to myself? It's not like I'm that busy Monday thru Friday! O well lesson learned. When I do go back it will be on a Tuesday morning....a few months from now!

I do it

Since he could talk he has had a certain Independence about him. "I do it". I loved it when his little voice would say those words. Even though he sometimes had no clue what he was doing. Or he wanted to lend a helping hand with me, I have always admired that he was a hands on learner .     Now that he is 4 he really doesn't need much help getting dressed. I still stay present just in case he needs my help. "I do it all by myself" are the words he says now. It makes me a little sad that he doesn't need me for everything now.     "I'm hungry" are words I hear alot from him. So I tell him find something to eat and I will help you make it. I let him put the snack ideas together. He can open the fridge. He can open the pantry. So he can grab whatever his little heart desires.     Here he is with minimal help from me making a peanut butter sandwich. "Watch me mom" are the words I hear when he does something a...

Where did September GO?!

My son was looking at the calendar the other day. Trying to count how many days to Halloween, he turns around and looks at me and says...."Where the heck did September GO?!" I laughed and said you are too young to worry about where the time is going! But yea I have no idea where it went. It seems like my post here lately is dwelling on where all the time went. Its definitely going by fast! And it doesn't help when every other post on Facebook is counting down to Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas! Geez people can we just get thru the first 6 weeks of school?! Speaking of school i have a a rant about the system. Or the lack there of anyway: I remember being disciplined in school. If I broke a rule I was sent to the office where my mom was already waiting for me. (Didn't help that she worked at my elementary school) but still. So not only did the principal lecture me about how talking in class and being disruptive was disrespectful, I had to get an ear full from...
